Goodbyes, delays and a crying baby (and I'm not talking about me)

It was hard at the airport not getting choked up, saying bye to family is always hard but this time knowing I can't just book a quick trip home made it that much harder.
Also, the fact that this whole Aus thing doesn't feel real to me didn't help. It felt like I was going on a holiday, or some sort of trip, not a 5 month semester abroad halfway across the world.
Walking through security after saying goodbye required a lot of deep breaths, wiping my tears and Greta persuading me that it would all be worth it.
Our first flight was delayed by an hour, which meant that we'd miss our next flight from Hong Kong - I mean, just perfect for two girls, flying out to start a new adventure who are already emotional. But surprisingly, we were very calm and we were told it would all be sorted in Hong Kong.
Sure enough, after a few movies and naps, we landed in Hong Kong and were put onto the next available flight, as well as receiving a free drink each which we were to get 'from upstairs.' This is easier said than done, we must have spent around 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get 'upstairs'.
By this time, we noticed that our next flight had also been delayed by an hour and 20 minutes or so. So, we took our time with our free drinks, updated family about our whereabouts. We were too tired to walk around so decided to walk to our gate...
If you have ever been to Hong Kong airport you'll understand me when I say it took us around 30-40 minutes to walk to our gate, and that's including the travelators! If you haven't been, trust me when I say that the airport is verrryyyy big.
Once at the gate we just collapsed onto some seats and waited to board.
Initially, I had booked the two of us by the window, in only a 2 seat aisle so we could stretch out and be more comfortable.
But, seeing as this was a different flight, we were placed on a 4 seater aisle.. This was fine until we saw a couple with a baby coming to sit next to us and when we realised the plane was full. After 2 delays, around 18 hours of travelling already the last thing we wanted was to be sat by a baby... But, he was good as gold and hardly cried at all, plus we got free icecream so no complaints from me :)

Our adventure had well and truly started...
1 plane journey, 2 sunsets and 3 different pieces of scenery
